Four years after it was founded, the company changed its name. On February 28 1933 the company “Vulkan – marine mechanical workshop and foundry” was registered in the Commercial Register in Susak. It was owned by Metod Tomljenovic, the naval captain from Susak. The accountant was Ivan Tomljenovic from Susak (probably the owner’s brother). These two were also registered as signatories of the company.

Right from the start, Vulkan began providing its services: maintenance and repair of ships and marine equipment and various industrial plant on land. The model workshop was formed at the same time as the foundry as a part of it. The models were made of wood and later of plastic.

In the period from 1932 to 1934, the workers performed major reconstruction and erection works, some of them were: partial execution and installation of the machine for impregnation of the railway slopes in Susak (this unit was disassembled and transferred to the Nasicka factory after the war), partial production and installation of Soap factory Rjecina in Susak and partial construction and installation of steam boilers, chimneys and pipes, compressed air tanks etc. for the creosote warehouse in Delta.

Services were also provided for the Adriatic sailing Susak and the Atlantic sailing Susak and shipowners: Matkovic from Split, Borovic from Susak and Tripkovic from Trieste.
